Frequently asked questions
Is a painting line profitable?
Of course. Painting glass is one of the most profitable process nowadays. Process cost versus retail price turns out that the paint is an added value appreciated by buyers.
What do I need to start painting glass?
Just the necessary equipment. GCV will advise you to get the best choice for your company. From the lowest cost manual system to the top painting line, our technicians will support you to get perfect production from the very first day.
Can I use any other paint in the market?
Of course. Any kind of paint possible to spray is perfect to use with Picasso. We know there are many glass paints in the market but after years of testing, our Glasspaint has shown that it has the best quality and drying time in the market. Thus, our ceramic inks are specially formulated to use with Picasso.
I have got a roll painting line already, why should I need a Picasso?
Roll painting lines are incompatible with two component paints, special effects like mirror or metallics, easy cleaning treatments, etc. Colour change is slow and unfeasible for small and medium series, so roll painting lines can only be used for large series which are not so common in glass business. The Picasso can run a new colour even for just a few glasses. Roll painting lines require adjustments each time the glass thickness is changed, while the Picasso needs no tuning for this. Roller systems take around 80μ to 90μ to get a good finish while the Picasso requires between 35μ to 40μ for getting the perfect finish.
Do I need to add the Dryer to the Picasso line?
It depends on the paint and desired production rate. For ceramic inks it is a must because the paint has to be completely dry before the tempering furnace. For acrylic resins like Glasspaint, the dryer will increase the production rate because you can touch the coating in less than 30 minutes. In addition, this new model is even more compact and economic.
Do I need to add the Cooler to the Picasso line?
Again, it depends of your needs. It is very useful for ceramic inks as the coating gets an extra hardness and the glass comes out ready to handle. For acrylic resins like Glasspaint, installing the cooler next to the dryer, the glasses will be ready to stack in 5 minutes, enhancing the production rate as much as possible. Also, this new design takes less than 6.5 meters long.
